We also have a strict sanitizing procedure for your vehicle. All of which we will explain prior to your visit.
Should bringing your vehicle to the garage become a problem, due to self-isolation, we may be able to arrange to collect and deliver from your home, without coming into contact with anyone.

Here at Field’s we are raising funds for Woking’s Hospice as a ‘Business supporter’.
I’m sure you are aware of how charities are suffering right now with huge drops in revenue. I am sure most of us will know someone who has needed the services of the Hospice so it is close to our hearts.
The Hospice relies upon donations for 80% of its funding so we are looking to help raise those funds.
One of the ways is:

I’m looking at tyres this week.
I was taught in my early years as a mechanic to think of tyres as:
“𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝”.
💭Think about it... you’re driving on a motorway at 70mph, it’s raining cats and dogs! Maybe you have your family on board.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝘆𝗿𝗲𝘀?
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱?
The concern is usually focussed on the depth of the tread. Are they legal? BUT there is more to the safety of your tyres than just the tread.
For cars left standing: those who’ve had lack of use, due to lockdown, home working etc... see the elephant in the car pic!
💭Consider the weight of your car for a moment...
💭Then consider it is bearing down on 4 bands of rubber filled with air!
If you have tyres that are getting on in age, it’s likely the side walls are starting to deteriorate, or cracking between the tread (see pics).
Tread depth may be ok, but remember the tyre structure as a whole needs regular inspection. You can only do this satisfactorily with the car on a ramp.
We see many vehicle horror stories here at Field’s.
Most of our customers are sensible, safety-minded people, who have their cars regularly serviced. However, some don’t and rely solely on the annual MOT test. To some, car maintenance is an inconvenience and expense, not high on the priority list.
Do you drive an older car? Say, pre-2012?
The government recently made tyres over 10 years old illegal, on some commercial vehicles. It’s obvious why, but one wonders why they did not stipulate ALL vehicles on the road?
If your car is of such an age it is possible that your tyres could be over 10 years old. In which case I strongly recommend that they are changed.
It is easy to check, as all tyres are dated on the side wall (see pic).

MOT Donation Scheme!
Field’s Car Centre are still supporting Woking Hospice through our MOT donations!
In 2020 we were able to donate £𝟛𝟚𝟙𝟝.𝟘𝟘 to Woking & Sam Beare Hospices thanks to the support of YOU - our customers.
🛠We are committing to continue this in 2021.
So, when you have your MOT done at Field’s, a small part will help our local hospice continue it’s remarkable work.
We are not “sounding our own trumpet”, early in 2020 a friend’s daughter sadly spent her last days at Woking Hospice. A few years back a dear and close friend of mine spent several months and his last days there, being cared for by the dedicated team.
📉Charities have really suffered from the drop in revenue during the pandemic. As a business we have been fortunate to remain open during lockdown despite the challenges of balancing the health and safety of staff, and customers.
We anticipated a huge drop in revenue as the government extended MOTs by 6months (now rescinded), so decided the “right thing to do” was to give £5 per MOT to the hospice, if people decided to go ahead.
“What goes around, Comes around”
📈We did almost more MOTs than the same period in the previous year! Resulting in a higher donation for the hospice.
The MOT test is a vital safety inspection. We see countless vehicles arrive for their test with 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨.
Unlike vehicle tax, there is no MOT reminder from the DVLA.
🛠At FCC, once we have had your vehicle in for a service or MOT, we will send you an annual reminder (either by text or email).
If you have recently changed cars, we can easily amend your details on our database if you get in touch.
🛠We also have a direct link to the DVLA. It takes us seconds to tell you when your MOT is due and it is no trouble to look, so please call us.
Alternatively, visit:
www.check-mot.service.gov.uk for the date and last certificate.
🛠Book 30days in advance and still keep your original MOT due date!
For those self-isolating, or concerned about venturing out, please call us. We can usually offer to collect and deliver locally, and can do so with minimal contact.
