What is a Timing Belt & when should my Timing Belt be changed?

Vehicles are fitted with either a Timing Belt or a Timing Chain. Chains do not usually need any maintenance. However, the belts do.

It is vital to know when a belt is due to be replaced, as this belt drives the engines internal parts. It has a recommended life span, which means if it is not replaced at the suggested mileage or age it can lead to failure of the belt. If this happens, serious engine damage occurs. We have seen it happen too many times to people who have been unaware or simply ignored it.
